HCI’s video library enhances eConsult Health’s online consultation functionality

A new collaboration, allowing GPs to easily share health information videos with patients following their online consultations, has been formed between eConsult Health, HCI and Healthinote.

Live in over 3,000 UK GP practices and the most widely used digital triage tool in NHS primary care, this collaboration will further enhance eConsult’s Post Consult Messaging service which includes Healthinote’s search engine and library for trusted, reliable, clinically-led health information. The addition of HCI’s extensive Health and Care Video Library to this search function will enable GPs to seamlessly prescribe video content to patients.

The Health and Care Video Library contains over 600 easy to understand videos covering a wide variety of health topics and conditions such as maternity, diabetes, contraception, COPD and asthma.

Thanks to this latest integration, GPs will be able to prescribe a range of Health and Care Videos by searching for any condition or symptom in the Healthinote search bar, selecting their video of choice and then sending it via email to their patients. This further enhances the already rich variety of clinically-led information made available to GPs via Healthinote to share with their patients.

Based on a recent NHSX survey conducted in conjunction with the national Health and Care Video Library, 62.5% of patients responding to an online survey said that the videos they watched saved them the need for further contact with a healthcare professional.

eConsult Health’s own research found that over 70% of requests are closed without the need for a face-to-face appointment. Bringing together these 3 health tech companies enables practices to provide patients with better, targeted information in a more timely manner, often preventing an unnecessary visit to the GP. The provision of clear, reliable health information to patients contributes towards a better patient experience and helps towards reducing the pressure on general practice.
