The National Health and Care Video Library is scheduled to be decommissioned at the end of March 2023.

Our National Health and Care Video Library was licensed for national use by NHS England during the COVID-19 pandemic, using our comprehensive and unique collection of patient information videos as a way of supporting people with assured health information and advice.

Over the last year, there have been nearly 300,000 video plays illustrating the impact it's had across the nation. However, the NHS couldn't continue to licence the library and since September 2021 we have kept the library running at our own expense so that NHS trusts and GP practices could still benefit. Sadly, we can't continue to carry the costs and as a result have no choice but to close the library down despite its use across the country and the positive feedback users have provided.

HCI continues to provide individual NHS hospital trusts with their own personalised versions of the Health and Care Video Library platform, containing over 900 patient and 200 staff training videos, and we would welcome discussions with any trusts or health systems that are interested in operating a library for their own communities and citizens.

For patients and the public:

  • If you would benefit from ongoing use of a health and care video library in your local area please contact us so that we can pass on your request to the health system managers in your area.

For healthcare professionals:

  • If you would like to continue to offer videos to your patients, to help them access your services and reduce demand on your health system, please take a look here or get in touch with us about setting up a localised version for your department, hospital, surgery, or ICS.
